Info

CANDIDASA DIVE SITES MIMPANG A couple of rocks poking up out of the ocean is the only indication of the exhilarating dive site below. We almost always see white tip reef sharks when we dive Mimpang, as well as pygmy seahorse, stunning coral, moray eels, cuttlefish and octopus and turtles. During the season, we watch the Mola Mola at their cleaning station here, often a more peaceful experience than seeing them at Nusa Penida. Currents can sometimes be gnarly at this site, so we require Advanced certification and minimum 20 logged dives to take you here. Depth: up to 40m Currents: moderate to strong, unpredictable Temperature: 18 – 29 degrees (cold water from July – November) Gili Tepekong Gili Tepekong is the biggest of the islands in Amuk bay, both in size and reputation. A stunning dive site, its position means its exposed to unpredictable and complex currents which make areas of it undiveable at times. When the dive gods are kind, we’re rewarded with beautiful hard and soft corals, normally a turtle or two, a stunning swim through towards the eastern side of the island, and all manner of schooling fish. Sometimes we run into a Mola Mola at this site too. Again, Advanced certification with evidence of 20 logged dives is required for us to take you to Tepekong. Depth: up to 25m Currents: moderate to strong, unpredictable Temperature: 18 – 29 degrees (cold water from July – November) Gili Biaha Biaha is the third and northernmost of the small islands in Amuk bay and again, is exposed to the Lombok Strait and therefore some challenging currents at times. The walls of this island are covered in beautiful hard and soft corals, and abundant fish life. Expect to see white tip reef sharks, big schools of jacks, as well as barracuda, red tooth trigger fish, turtles, octopus, it’s a beautiful site. We dive Gili Biaha within a three dive day at Candidasa (Mimpang, Tepekong and Biaha). Again, currents are complex and unpredictable so we require at least an Advanced certification. Depth: up to 40m Currents: moderate to strong, unpredictable Temperature: 18 – 29 degrees (cold water from July – November) Candidasa Logistics Pick Up Time from Canggu: from 6:30am Travel Time: approximately 1.5hrs Return Time: approximately 4pm Type of Dive: boat, walls and reef, currents, big stuff
